Parents in Haiti face daily economic hardships, with many living on less than $2 a day. Although education is greatly valued, the financial strain of sending children to school hinders their access to education. It is not uncommon for one or both parents to have passed away, leaving their children orphaned or under the care of extended family members. Parents also seek better job opportunities in the Dominican Republic or elsewhere, leaving their children behind. Your sponsorship helps families stay together by alleviating the financial burden of paying for tuition, books, and uniforms for these children. Family members feel better equipped to care for the children left in their care, knowing that sponsors cover their education.
