November 2024 Update

11/2/2024

Lovenise felt a profound emptiness and pain in her heart. She expressed that she felt “lonely and incomplete.” It truly is a miracle that she has made it to the 8th grade, considering the numerous obstacles she has had to overcome.

With the loss of her parents, her living conditions quickly deteriorated. She was forced to live with her aunt, who is a struggling, single mother of five children. Further conversations revealed that during her final exam, Lovenise experienced a spiritual attack that rendered her to become physically uncontrollable, attempting to injure herself in front of the other students. This event resulted in Lovenise leaving school due to shame and embarrassment.

Missing the fellowship of the church and her school friends, she is feeling isolated and confused. In her own words: “Since my attack, the demon occasionally tries to control my mind and I have suicidal thoughts.” Despite my encouragement for her to return to school, she remains extremely fearful.

As she continues to struggle with spiritual warfare. Her family believes that if she returns to school, and therefore the Church, the demon will hurt her. Please pray that Levonise would be freed from demonic attacks and that she would be mentally and spiritually healed through the power of the Holy Spirit and that she would accept Christ as her Savior.

How You Can Help

Please pray for the people of Haiti. The continuing gang violence has caused thousands to flee from their homes and the socio-political instability has devasting consequences for the Haitian people. We ask that you fervently pray for our ministry and those we serve.

Pray for God to intervene with His mighty hand to bring a new Godly government and stability to Haiti. Nothing is impossible with God!

"I am the Lord the God of all mankind, is anything too hard for me?" -Jeremiah 32:27

School Updates

We want to express my deepest appreciation for our incredible teachers and staff. Their commitment and dedication throughout this challenging year have been remarkable. Despite ongoing security, economic, and food crises in Haiti, our teachers and staff completed the 2023-2024 academic year strong. They are committed and motivated to continue providing excellent education for the 2024-2025 school year. We are thankful that students in the Pignon-Fontaine area have access to quality education and can safely attend school. Classes began on October 7, and we are pleased to report that 345 students are registered. Additionally, we have a dedicated team of 60 teachers staff, and employees.

Church Updates and Ministering to our Widows

We see continued spiritual growth among our youth group as they minister and serve in the community. To support and encourage the widows in our community, they plan to establish a small sales boutique in Fontaine. This boutique will sell food items, and the proceeds will be used to provide basic necessities and food for needy widows.

In the past three months, five individuals, including a former voodoo practitioner, have come to know the Lord through the ministry of the youth group in our community. We praise God for this initiative, that brings glory to God and helps lost souls find eternal life and hope in Christ!

PCMP Garden

Five months ago, PCMP established a community garden, and we have already begun to reap its benefits. Pictured above is Elan Simbert who along with his family was forced to flee Port-Au-Prince to Pignon due to gang violence. He is harvesting fresh fruit and vegetables, including plantain, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, green onion, eggplant. The garden is helping our community see God’s provision for his children and is encouraging additional community investment into this project.

Food Distribution

The rise in gang violence in Haiti has prompted many families to flee their homes in Port-au-Prince and relocate to safer towns. Pignon has welcomed a number of these families. In addition to the violence and political instability, irregular rainfall and dry conditions have made it increasingly difficult for people to access food. Your generous donations through our Emergency Food Relief Campaign initiative enable us to continue providing food to many affected families. Last month we distributed food to 310 families in 2 different communities, including 30 widows and a local orphanage. Since March, we have served 280 families in six communities, bringing them hope and encouragement as they gratefully receive life-sustaining sustenance. Thank you!

Meet one of our students: Lovenise François

Lovenise Francois is a 19-year-old student at PCMP. She began her education at the age of 5 and has been an active member of her community throughout the years. Lovenise is well-loved for her contagious smile and kind, polite demeanor.

In June 2024, I visited her classroom to learn more about her story, but to my surprise, I discovered that Lovenise had dropped out of school. The lead school administrator and I decided to visit her home to gather more information about her situation. It deeply saddened me to learn that Lovenise had lost both her mother and father.
