A Powerful Story of Hope in Haiti

A Life Transformed from Darkness to Light

"My name is Ricado Charles, people call me Cado. I was born into a non-Christian family, and my family had no relationship with God. When I was a child, my family often took me to witch doctors for good luck, protection, and healing. My parents’ culture, beliefs, and religion were passed down to me. At the age of 20 I become a witch doctor myself. I practiced voodoo until God changed me. During many years practicing voodoo many people have died in my hands because I was pretending I could heal their sickness. Truth is, I had no clue what was going on with those people. But thank God He changed my life! I am no longer a liar pretending I can heal people or curse people. Please pray for me, I do not want to be a witch doctor anymore, I want to be for God for the rest of my life. I want the same voice who talked to me to talk to my family too so they can accept Jesus too. I am currently attending Philadelphia Church, and I am eager to learn more about Jesus."

Cado is currently being discipled by Pastor Jude and the believers in the Philadelphia Christian Church. The Creekside Haiti missions team witnessed his transformation when he renounced his voodoo practices by burning his possessions associated with his voodoo lifestyle in the streets of Fontaine

Church Updates

March 9th this year was a special day for our church: Harvest Day! Each year, the churches in Haiti celebrate Harvest Day! It is a meaningful time for church members to celebrate and thank God for a good harvest. After gathering at the river for a baptism, members of the congregation bring first fruits (garden produce) to the sanctuary. The first fruits are either sold to help support the church or given to needy families. While we celebrated in the church building, the angels rejoiced in heaven, as we witnessed five lost souls commit their lives to Jesus that day, including Cado! We thank God that He faithfully moves in people's hearts to turn to Him and receive eternal life!

Youth Camp April 12-16

Finding meaningful experiences for our youth can be challenging in this upside-down world. For the past seven years, we've organized an annual youth camp at our church. The purpose of the Youth Camp is to disciple and encourage the youth in their faith, provide opportunities for character development, and develop essential life skills. By engaging in various activities and interactions with youth from other communities, we aim to instill valuable traits such as empathy, resilience, leadership, self-reflection, and personal growth. Testimonies from parents and campers reveal that our youth camp experiences have a real and lasting impact on their lives. We value your prayers for this year's camp!

School Updates

I want to express my deepest appreciation for our incredible teachers and staff. Their commitment and dedication throughout this challenging year have been remarkable. Despite ongoing security, economic, and food crises in Haiti our teachers and staff completed the 2023-2024 academic year strong. They are committed and motivated to continue providing excellent education for the 2024-2025 school year. We are thankful that students in the Pignon-Fontaine area have access to quality education and can safely attend school.

We continue to focus on strengthening Physical Education programs in our school. Physical activity has numerous benefits for students, including improving academic performance. In February, the Haiti Missions team from Creekside Church in Urbandale, IA, constructed a beautiful basketball court for our students. On behalf of the students and staff, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this project possible, providing numerous academic, social, and health benefits for our students.

Construction of the basketball court proved to be much more challenging than expected! While mixing the cement the water at the school well ran dry. This meant making numerous trips to the river to fill 55 gallon barrels with water and transporting them by truck to the school!

A young girl observed one of our team members carrying 80-pound bags of cement from the storage building to the work site. She felt compelled to give him a snack because he was working so hard! A friend had given her this snack because the little girl hadn't eaten all day. She chose to give her only food for the day with our team member. Our team member was in tears and overwhelmed by her kindness and compassion toward a stranger. She had nothing, but gave everything, and this act of compassion profoundly impacted him. She displayed a wonderful example of Christ's love and compassion towards us. We go on mission trips thinking we’re there to give, yet we leave with hearts overflowing from the countless blessings we’ve received in return!

THANK YOU!

Because of you, our dedicated supporters—your steadfast interest, generous financial contributions, and especially your prayers—we are able to keep moving forward. Despite numerous challenges and uncertainties, we see God’s faithfulness at work, allowing us to continue our ministry in Haiti. Through His grace, we are also celebrating victories, both big and small, made possible by your faithful support. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

How You Can Help

Please pray for the people of Haiti. The continuing gang violence has caused thousands to flee from their homes and the socio-political instability has devasting consequences for the Haitian people. We ask that you fervently pray for our ministry and those we serve.

Pray for God to intervene with His mighty hand to bring a new Godly government and stability to Haiti. Nothing is impossible with God!

"I am the Lord the God of all mankind, is anything too hard for me?" Jeremiah 32:27

In February, 7 members of Creekside Church, along with Rosiana Augusma, Jude's wife, traveled to Pignon to serve with PCMP. It was a joy to serve alongside, minister to, and encourage our Haitian brothers and sisters. We began each day with Bible reading and prayer. The team participated in many activities, including VBS, constructing a Basketball court and 2 tether ball courts, and building a tool cabinet for the mission house. The team taught science and computer classes and distributed food to needy families and a local orphanage. It was a true privilege and joy for the team to visit families in their homes, where they were able to connect through prayer and song, offering both spiritual and practical support.
